Camco ripoff! Tried to collect on a debt that was not mine!

Someone left a message on my answering machine stating that they were calling for a person with my maiden name. That bothered me even though it was a common name. They said I had to return the call for urgent business matters.

When I check my caller ID the # was "blocked" - I called it back anyway and they asked me what # I was calling from then kept me on hold for several minutes then came back on and asked me to confirm my last 4 didgits of my SS#. At this point I asked them what this company was and what they were calling for - they said it for an unpaid debt from 1986!!!

I told them it was not my debt when I asked what address they had on file they told me it was Dayton Ohio - I've never lived or even been to Ohio, I explained that someone has stolen my idenity before and these were debts I had cleared from my credit report 11 years ago - I contacted my attorney and he told me to request they send me proof since they also had my previous address which was San Diego, CA.

When I called back and I asked for a manager she got on the phone and was very rude and when I asked for proof she said they didn't have any and then she said are you refusing to pay the debt - I said yes and then she hung up on me! I hope we can put these people out of business!!! Let me know if anyone is doing anything that I can help with!
