They had told me i am bein sued for money recieved from a cash advance in mine and my boyfriends name

I am writing this report because i was at work and my mother in law recieves a call from jason supposedly from a law firm and didnt say which one he is from or no last name. He gives us this number 12817630431. I called it back and spoke to a different lady and she had given me the information about why jason was supposedly callin me. She had said me and my boyfriend had borrowed money from them and i never recall. I searched the number given and it comes up as a caliofornia number. And i searched the law firm they came from and it gives me a different number and nobody by that name. The ppl that called both was foregin and not american people. I feel that this is some kind of scam or fraud. So if you can look into this for me that would be great before i fork out money to a scam please.
