My check was declined with a merchant that I have dealt with for years. I asked check center why my check was declined, the child that answered the phone couldn't figure out what info he could tell me or the merchant, and they said they have no reason to decline my check, they just wanted to. They said to write them a letter and they might tell me the real reason why they declined, but good luck, they won't reply to me. They weasel their way in to small businesses offering lower fees, but they cost the companies money in lost sales. Why cant the merchants just call my bank and verify funds like the good old days. These small businesses are worried about me not having the funds? The computer that helped me over the phone said I was ok to write a check, but the same computer said to the merchant that I wasnt!
