Insurance cancelled, bad communication

After having another insurance company for 10 years we decided to see if we could get a better rate. We got a quote of a substancial difference from American Family and decided to go with them. We were surprise when someone showed up about 2 weeks later to take pictures of the yard (front and back) but not the inside of the house. About a week later we got a call from the agent saying that they had reported that the yard was a mess and that there were appliances in the yard. OK, so we admit, the yard is a mess but there are no appliance but we will clean it up. The agent told us we had 2 weeks to clean it up.

We worked very hard to get it all cleaned but after just 1 1/2 weeks, we got a notice in the mail that we were cancelled due to "vaious debris and appliances on premises" and also a "detached shed with peeling paint", something that was not brought up at all. The next day, we received a check for the refund. I have been trying to get ahold of the agent and he is not responding to my phone calls or my email with updated pictures showing him it had been cleaned. They did, however give me the phone number to a company that deals in high risk insurance.

I am absolutely floored by this and can honestly say that I didn't see this coming. They have made it quite clear that they are not about to work with us and, quite honestly, I would not trust them to handle an actual claim if we ever had one (luckily, I have never had to file any claims with any insurance company). Our homeowners insurance has been dropped and we have gotten a black mark against us so it will probably cost more for insurance only because they decided that we had a 'messy yard' - really???
