Can't trust anyone Ft. Lauderdale

My story probably sounds the same, After 2 years of negotiating with my mortgage company I had sent all the necasary paper work to the lender atleast eight times, even began when I was still making good money and was current on the payments, with no luck I had submited an online application for loan modification help.
I had several replies that contacted me by phone, most of them wanted money up front or for me to do all the leg work or both.
This company contacted me by phone and offered to help so I sent no money just signed a release so they could examine my contract and informed me that is was preditary and they could negotiate a modification, and there fee was $1650. They even let me pay it in three installments, and even called when they withdrew money.
I first wnet on line and researched then with the BBB and found they had a 4 rating and I looked at some consumer groups and didn't find any serious complaints.
I thought I had found a saviour and an answer to our situation.
One thing they required was for me to keep them uptodate with pay stubs and bank statements.
When I emailed my last bank statement and requested a reciept from them I got no response.
I tried to call there phone number still works but there messege has changed, I have left several messeges and have not heard back, I checked them out again with the BBB and they have been revoked.
I feel so stupid and violated that I trusted people, loosing the money is one thing but now I'm no better off with my lender, they sounded so legitamate and friendly.
I'm not sure what to do next any ideas?
