$5 Rebate Check Led to Unwanted $7.95 Auto Club Bill

Shell sent me a check for $5 as a rebate. It looked all right to me, so I put it on my desk for my next trip to the bank. Two months later, I received a bill for $7.95, the only charge on it. I phoned Shell, and they told me I owe $15.00.

The bill is for an auto club. I phoned them and was told it will take two to three months to stop. They said it was on the back of the check that I cashed. I am a building contractor and not easily fooled. They pulled a shell game on me, and I do not like it. The number for the auto club is 1-888-872-2630.
