We have made two attempts to transfer money from our account in Oman to a non HSBC account in Canada. First attempt (3rd April) was rejected by the payments processing centre because the 'Beneficiary Address' field was not completed. We were advised that Canada is the only country that needs this info so the HCBC staff did not know it was required. Second attempt (14th April) was rejected because the account number used was 10 digits, not 12 - why were these details not picked up by HSBC staff before the transfers were made? We have contacted our bank in Canada and they have supplied account codes which are not 12 digits. On both occasions we had to call into the bank to find out why the money had not reached our account in Canada. This has so far cost us 45.500 OMR. I spoke to the Manager in person at 09:30 hrs on Monday 2nd May, who advised that he would check with the transfer department and get back to me. I am still waiting to hear from him on 11th May. I also completed a customer service complaint 'contact us' form on the HSBC, Oman website at 10:15 on the 5th May. Again I have not had a response. I have just completed another 'contact us' form requesting information on investments just to see whether I get a response to that!
