Promises not kept, taken advantage of

Carol with John Towers Financial Services had been calling our home and sending flyers by mail constantly explaining that they were the company to get us a modification on our home. Carol continually explained that they can and will get the job done. We explained that we we had little money. Carol explained that they had someone that worked inside Bank of America and would be able to get the modification done within 30 days. We were very sceptical and did look into any complaints against John Towers Financial and found none. They asked for $700.00 down payment and within two weeks asked for $1000.00. We did feel the red flag going up, but they explained very carefully that they could not go any further without more payment; Carol at this time did say they would not ask for anymore until modification is complete. We were asked to call back September 13th. We did and a person by the name of "Jack answered and asked us to call back in a couple of hours. This went on until 4pm when Jack said, "why don't you guys stop calling and to give it a rest". We were so upset we asked for a manager and this guy hung up on us. We called back and Carol got on the phone; we explained what happened and she said to us, "That must have been the janitor", We heard laughing in the backround. I said, "This is so rude and for you to take advantage of us is so wrong", Carol interrupted me and said that if we were that dumb enough to just give us the money you deserve this. My wife and I were very upset.
