Chase Mortgage
Trying to do the right thing

Business & Finance

Dealing with Chase Mortgage has been nothing short of futile. After logging close to 12 phone hours (think about how much time that really is on the phone), I am still no closer to ending this fiasco than when I started.

My immigrant parents, now in their 80s, have been trying to sell a small investment property in Florida for the past 2 years. This property was to provide them with a small income above and beyond their modest SS checks they receive monthly. The tenants have been less than timely in their payments and have not even been able to pay the full amount because of their economic difficulties. Because of this my parents have not been able to pay their mortgage for the past few months and we have been relentlessly trying to get some resolution with Chase along with trying to sell this property.

Now, we have received a firm offer on the house. The offer is considerably less than my parents were asking but at this point they just want to get out of this situation. I contacted the bank when this offer was first submitted and was given bad information, mis directed to several different departments including Property Preservation, Loss Mitigation, Home Preservation and the list goes on and on. I was also given the name of Andrew Brennan and asked to request a financial statement. I called the number, 614-422-7045 on three different occasions and, according to his answering message, was told he would contact me within 24 hours. I have never received a phone call... Ever!

I have over 14 phone numbers which I have dialed countless times. I have been transferred to even more numbers, several times of which I was disconnected and had to start the process all over again.

Now, on December 13th, I contacted them again and again they cannot give me any more directions than, "it takes 5-10 business days to receive an answer." The problem is, at this point, the offer is due to expire on December 14th.

My parents are trying to do the right thing. They were brought up with the ethics that if you borrow money, you pay it back... Period! Now, they are trying to do just that, but Chase has made it virtually impossible to resolve this issue. Lack of interest, lack of care and a basic lack of respect is what this bank, Chase, has shown my parents who, for the past 45 years have done nothing but worked hard, pay their bills and do what's right.

Chase... Shame on you!!
