J Hass Group, LLC
Shady Liars, Cheats and Scamming Thieves

Business & Finance

In an effort to avoid bankruptcy, I contracted with J Hass Group to have their "experts" negotiate my debt down to a level I could afford. I was promised that the settlements would be between 20-30% of the original amount and that all my debts could be settled within a 24-36 month period.

Once I was in the program, J Hass convinced me to settle my smallest debt for 50% stating that usually smaller balances do not settle for less than 50%. It was a relief to have one account settled — now I only had two more to go!

Approximately 6 months later, I was contacted and told that they could not settle my Chase Home Equity Line, because it was a Home Equity Line and they do not handle those type of accounts. They said they would refund my fees. When I asked them why I was told initally that they could handle Home Equity Lines, they said that I had been misinformed. I then told them that my Fifth Third account was also a Home Equity Line so they would need to refund my fees associated with that account as well. The J Hass rep said that since they had received one offer (it was not as good as the offer that had been made directly to me) that they would continue to try and negotiate the Fifth Third account.

I did receive a refund of the Chase fees, but no one seemed to be able (or willing) to give me any documentation to show that I had received all of my fees. It has been another 6 months and the Fifth Third account has not been settled. I asked for J Hass to refund those fees and let me handle on my own since I had received a better settlement offer than their "experts" had, but they refused to refund ANY of my fees associated with that account due to all the hard work they had done. Fact is, they had done very little work on that account!

So now I am out over $4,000 in fees — the Fifth Third account fees and a years worth of their monthly maintenance fees! I got so frustrated — the reps refused to let me speak to a manager. I even had several of them lie to me and tell me that a certain individual was the manager, only to find out later that he was only a negotiator, not a manager! After arguing with the "manager imposter" that I should receive ALL of my fees associated with the Fifth Third account and he kept saying that they had "earned" (haha) them, I told him to just close my account and send me what money I had in my reserves. He then said it would take 6-10 days to receive my money from my reserve account. I called NoteWorld (the rep there was very helpful) and told her to close my account, and I received the money within 2 business days!

This company did not do what they were supposed to do and now I am out more than $4,000 that I could have used to pay towards my debt and it looks like I am going to have to file bankruptcy afterall. What a rip-off! They did NOTHING to warrant my sacrificing over $4,000, especially since my credit is worse now than when I joined them in hopes of settling my outstanding debt.
