Service was sub par, will not refund deposit

I am writing to file a complaint against Snyder Realty of Jacksonville. My husband is in the Navy, and as we are now going to be stationed in Hawaii, we are trying to sell our home in Jacksonville Beach. We began back in April by enlisting the services of Roger C. Snyder of Snyder Realty of Jacksonville. We were required to put down a $500 deposit, as well as $100 for a lockbox.in my opinion, over the past few months, Roger has been difficult at best to get a hold of and to deal with. We were told he marketed homes on over 30 websites, yet, sometimes when we went to check out some of those websites either our home wasn't there, or the information on it was incorrect (price, descriptions, etc.). We had to notify him several times of this incorrect listing information. When we tried to contact him, once we were told he was in a "remote location" and could not be contacted by phone. We spoke to him in July when we told him we were unhappy with his services, but that we were going to give him another month or so. Last week, frustrated still with his lack of response, we decided to enlist the services of another realtor. We called Roger to let him know that we were going to do this; however, he was unavailable and did not return our phone call. We also requested our $500 deposit back. Now, he has contacted us and is refusing to refund our deposit, saying that we had to let him know that we were going with another realtor first and that he performed his end of the contract. We tried to notify him first, but he was unavailable! In addition, his services were not what they were stated to be in the contract (incorrect listing information, etc). We politely requested a refund of the money, which was denied. We then tried talking to him over the phone, where he proceeded to raise his voice and not be very polite (in our opinion) about not refunding the money. As if selling a home in these difficult times is not hard enough, on top of it we are having to deal with this realtor who now has $500 of our money that he will not refund. Recently, he offered to refund $100, but we told him this was not sufficient, as this was not the amount of our deposit. He did nothing to earn the money - his service, in our opinion, was very sub par. Also, when I told him that I thought he conducted his business with a lack of integrity and ethics and had poor professionalism, he told me that was verbal abuse and threatened to involve an attorney! This is definitely not a company that I would recommend using.
