Left a disturbing, threatening message on my machine. What a ripoff!

I came home to find a disturbing message on my answering machine from CAMCO stating I had to call them immediately regarding my social security #! I called & a very gruff, unprofessional male asked for personal info. I declined & told him that he called me, he is to provide me with info. He claimed I had an outstanding debt from over 10 years ago! He would settle for pennies on the dollar. I refused.

This account was long closed. He said he had a copy of my credit report & they would ruin my credit. I said a few choice words & hung up. I sent a Cease & Desist letter. They sent me a letter the same day. They are claiming they bought an old account from Midland Receivables.

They are telling me I need to contact them & if I don't they will assume this account is valid! They are claiming I owe over $5K when this account before I paid it off was never more than $1500. I have filed a complaint with the NH AG, IL AG, FTC & FBI.

Where else should I go? Someone out there has personal info on me as I also received a letter from someone else claiming I owe money from 1994, a utility from a state I was not living in!
