John McKenzie All sweet talk and promises, no action: Refuses to acknowledge in writing that our account has been paid ~ $8000

Due to unforeseen circumstances, it became impossible for us to pay a credit card bill. After unsuccessful attempts to resolve the problem with the cc company, it was turned over to collections. Actually, I think it was purchased by this so-called law firm, Bronson & Migliaccio, LLP.

We received our first notice from Bronson & Migliaccio on Sept 17. We made payment on the account in October and November (with letters confirming post-dated checks had been applied). Then in Dec, we paid off the entire settlement agreement. The agreement was for $8000, of which $8000 was paid in full on Dec. 2.

At that time, I was told that a letter would be furnished to us verifying that the funds were received and the settlement complete. However, to date, we have received no letter of acknowledgment.

I called their offices repeatedly, and all but once, spoke with John McKenzie. He really put on a show of caring and understanding, building trust and a positive relationship. But, obviously, it was only for show.

Every time I spoke with him, I was assured that the letter was sent, that another one would be sent, and that they would email me one, just to be sure that I received it.
He used to return my calls, but won't even give me that courtesy anymore.

All I want is a letter stating that this account has been paid. At the beginning of this whole ordeal, he often reminded me of the importance of having written documentation and assured me that I would receive appropriate documentation. Now he won't give me the time of day.
