Help! Bought my Providian account along with over 430,000 others

I received a letter yesterday from Aspire Visa stating they had purchased my account from Providian. I have read all the horror stories on this site about this company and I am truely concerned.

I have had my account with Providian in debt consolidation for the last two year and was looking forward to having it paid off in about 8-10 months. I have only been paying 8% interest to providian and now I am worried about Aspire raising my interst to 19-33% which will make this impossible to pay off in the same amount of time.

Last night I tried to call Aspire and waited for over 1 1/2 hours for them to pick up. Every 20 seconds the recording said "All our representative are assisting other customers. Please stay on the line and the next available representative will be with you shortly." What a crock. I finally had to go to bed so I gave up.

This morning I called them and spoke with a representative who seemed to have no clue. She spoke with such a tick Hispanic accent and so fast that I had to ask her to repeat herself numerous times. Sho told me that she had no information on my account and I should call back in a couple of days.

Granted, the letter I received stated, "Your Aspire Visa account will have the same terms and conditions as your old Providian Visa account", but that remains to be seen. I find it hard to beleive that a company that typically charges high interst rates will leave my account at a low 8%.

I won't have a chance to talk to my consolidation comany about this until Monday. I hope they have an agreement witht Aspire so that I can get this paid off as planned. This could not have happened at a worse time as I was going to apply for a home loan next month.

If anyone out there has any sugestions how I can protect myself from this company please let me know before it is too late.
