First Consumer Debt Management
First-Consumer.com hired me to work under false pretenses, then when the truth was uncovered and I left, they refuse to pay me for the week I worked

Business & Finance

First Consumer Debt Management, also known at the websites http://www.first-consumer.com and http://www.susdeudas.com, is a debt management company that functions as an affiliate, referring you to either debt settlement or debt consolidation companies and they take their cut.

I've never used their services, so I won't be saying anything negative about the services they provide to customers, but I know they have no problem with ripping off their employees, or ex-employees.

I interviewed with them and spoke with the owner, named Paul Siska, and his assistant Rod Delahanty, and I was clear in the interview that I don't do outbound sales, period. Never have, never will. I am ok with inbound sales, and they both assured me all calls are incoming. They even compared it to customer service with "soft-selling".

At the end of the first week of training is when they sprung on us the news that we'd in fact be placing outbound calls to external leads purchased from some lead broker with the leads being as old as 30 days. That's exactly what I said I WON'T do in the interview, and I was assured it wouldn't be part of the job, but they didn't care, so I left and never came back.

During the interview and even during training it was confirmed that pay is $400 a week, and training is paid as well, so after a month and a half or so passed without pay, I contacted them and asked why I haven't received my pay for the week of training, and they said, get this, that "since I didn't work the 4 weeks after training, I'm not entitled to the paid training". Ridiculous!

By that logic, someone would have to work about 6 weeks straight with no pay before they get their first paycheck, just to make sure they "work the 4 weeks after training". It's a blatant scam if I've ever seen one, since this was never said during any interviews, training, or anything, though I'm sure they'd have no problem lying about it or falsifying and editing some papers to make it seem like it was in plain sight all along.

Point is, the company likes to bait and switch their employees, hiring them under false pretenses, and if that's how they treat their employees, I leave it up to you to decide how they probably treat their customers.

*I will update this post if I ever get paid my $400, otherwise, there it is.
