Refused to cancel my account, did not speak english, would not provide confirmation

Business & Finance

Experian makes it nearly impossible to cancel an account that auto bills your bank account monthly. It is difficult to find the phone number on their Web site to cancel and the people who answer the calls are in India or Korea or some other place on the other side of the world. They do not speak English. My request to cancel was met with a long, long effort on their part to keep the service, a sales pitch really, in poor English. What should have been a five minute call was made into a half hour effort on their part to keep the business rather than serve their customer.

I repeated, again and again, that I wanted to cancel. The girl kept saying, "good evening, " even though it's early morning in Texas at the time of my call.

I repeated that I wanted to cancel at least ten times; the Experian representative kept pitching the advantages of the free credit reports, which of course are not free; they cost $15-$25 per month, month after month.

I finally demanded to speak with a supervisor. The girl said that one was not available. I could hear people speaking another language and a baby crying in the background. Again and again, I asked politely, then more forcefully to a supervisor. I was at my wit's end. Finally, the simpleton said, "your account will be canceled in three weeks and you will receive a confirmation in two days." She refused to give me a confirmation number. Is less than professional and they should be ashamed. No wonder they moved their call centers overseas. If they performed so poorly in the USA, they'd be shut down by the appropriate regulatory agencies.
