FCNB Acct Invalid ripoff Paying on ivalid acct numbe

Like everyone else here, I mailed my payment due on June30th, in plenty of time. Other bills I mailed after have already cleared my bank. I called the new number, and they say I have an invalid acct number.
I know I'm going to have a late fee and that just ticks me off. I always pay more than what's due. This happened a few months ago, but I just figured my payment got lost, until I noticed it was posted a day later.
Are they holding payments to collect those late fees? What can we do? I would love to be part of a class action. I would stop making my payments, but I don't want to screw up my credit, but if we make payments and they are posted late, are we not screwing up our credit anyway. This really sucks.
