Be Careful about Out Of Statute Debt

I was contacted by this company about an old debt. At the time I didn't realize the debt was out of Statute of Limitations, I made the mistake of sending them a $50 Payment on a debt that was $500 dollars 12 years ago. Well I talked to someone about my debt and I was told not to pay it. So I told FRS not to bother me anymore. They were calling me at Work and at Home. Well since I made that $50 Payment that was considered activity on the account! They took me to court and won! They were originally trying to collect $4,200 from me and offered me a 35 percent settlement. I wish I would have done it now. Now they are garnishing my paychecks and seizing my tax returns. The $4,200 became $7,600 after attorney fees and court costs. And the debt also collects 18 percent interests!
