US Bank Overdraft Charge Abuse

About four years ago, I opened an account with US Bank. I am very good at keeping my check register and am usually within a dollar of the actual balance when I balance once or twice a month. However, one month I forgot to write down a $20 transfer to my daughter's account. What US Bank did at that point was scandalous.

I do not recall the specific numbers (though I have everything printed and saved in my files somwhere). Thinking my account had $20 more that it did, I did two transactions that I thought left my account with $18.instead, it was -$2. When I logged into my account, I saw the two transactions pending. I looked at the balance and they had taken two $35 overdraft fees.

This STILL did not take my account into the negative. Then, the next day when they actually ran the two transactions through, it took both into the negative so they assessed two MORE overdraft fees of $35. I got charged $140 in overdraft charges for being $2 overdrawn.

To clarify, I got charged FOUR $35 overdraft charges for ONE transaction. I would have paid the $35 overdraft charge without batting an eye... But FOUR?

Needless to say, I no longer actively bank at US Bank and have returned full-time to my Credit Union (had account for over 20 years). They give me A customer service and have NEVER charged me a fee I didn't feel was fair.

This practice needs to stop as it is immoral and unethical. I hope a class action lawsuit is filed soon. I would be VERY happy to participate.
