Beware of this SCAM

My wife received a letter from this company in a plain white envelope with no return address. The letter was accompanied by a check for $4875.00, and appeared to be from Regions Bank in Beverly Hills, FL. I've never been privy to one of these scams, and being curious in nature, I called the bank, gave them the account number and was advised that this company does not have an account with them - Kudos to the bank clerk for taking the time to speak to me and research the account. Then I called the number on the letter to inquire about the check, spoke to someone of (what appeared to be) Indian descent who was very short and would not release any information to me for "privacy reasons". So I asked him to just let me know what this letter and check were all about, because we never enter sweepstakes or contests. Needless to say, I got nowhere fast. It's sad that some people actually fall for this crap and high time someone did something about these scumbags!
