US Bank
Provides no solid evidence for overdraft fees

Business & Finance

I was a customer of US Bank until today. I had an overdraft fee occur of 6.32 which made my account negative 2.62. I then began incurring multiple overdraft feels. Today the bank wants 143.00 and I am going to put it in the ATM, as instructed and close this account. According to my paper and online statements, I was charged two overdraft fees for one transaction. Three tellers admitted to me that they charge a fee once when the check "presents" and once when it "clears" the account. They admitted that they do this to make it harder for you to catch your account up. When you look at printed statements and my online statements, the evidence of an overdrawn and "actual available balance" is not evident. There is a balance and transactions. You take the balance and subtract the transactions. At what point did it become acceptable to do otherwise?

Since the statements are incorrect, I cannot know how much money to put into the account to bring it current. So far, I have incurred $239 in fees in a week. The bank is issuing fees based on whatever transactions they strategically push through (and deposits they hold) (which was also admitted to me by an employee).

They know what they are doing and they like it. The reps at the 800 number laughed at me and told me I shouldn't have used the card. I used my card for 6.82... I was expecting to pay over $100 in fee for doing so. I also have an account with Commerce Bank. This does not occur there.

When you put in a deposit, the amount of which is enclosed in one check, they will hold various amounts of the check without rhyme or reason. Sometimes it's $20, sometimes it's $4, depending on what it going to be debited of course.

I am open for a class action suit. I know Bank of America had to pay on theirs... US Bank should be next.
