I Have Been Scammed

My husband and I were having financial difficulties. I just got out of the military and my husband was having a hard time finding a job because he is disabled. Our home loan was already in default because we tried to refinance our home and got scammed. We received a letter from New Hope stating that they could help us save our home and modify it to make lower payments.

They faxed us a contract and other paperwork that we need to fill out along with a list of paperwork that we needed to send with the other paperwork. I was told that it would only cost us $1400 and if we had too we could break it up into seperated payments but that they would not be able to do anything until they had all of the money. Two days later I called them back and told them that that I could send them $1400 now and two $200 payments later. The person that I spoke with told me that it was going to cost me $2500 not $1400. I told the man that this money was for our two children. He turned around and told me "Wouldn't saving your home be the best Christmas present you could ever give your children and your self?" talk about a guilt trip.

We made the payments of $1000 and then two payments of $750 and put our trust into this company. We heard from them three times after that, two were for more information and the other was an e-mail dated April 9th written by a Mitigation Specialist, Jason Green.in this email he stated that he had spoken to our lender that day and our file was in review. He also stated that he did not know how long it would take due to a high volume of loans coming in to be modified.

On April 23rd we were informed by Suntrust Morgage that our house had been sold to Sprague and Curtis on March 24th. The only way I had found that out was when my bank sent me a Deliquency Waiver Letter and I called them to find out what it ment. My son, who is Autistic along with having ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorder, is extremely upset and so is my daughter. I really hope that you can help us.
