G E Money Bank
Lied about settlement

Business & Finance

I purchased a pair of sunglasses from Lenscrafters for about $160 just before my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer. I paid using my Lenscrafters credit card. Months later I received a phone call from a heavily accented male about the account. I had forgotten it. I paid $60 online that day. The following month I paid another $30, or so I thought. The money was never deducted from my checking account, but a hefty service charge was added to the bill. I paid the next month the same way and the same thing happened.

Because of this, I wrote GE Money Bank offering them $140 for a settlement and returning the pieces of their credit card. Since my husband was diagnosd, I have been at home unemployed taking care of him. I have no income for them to even try to get.

They replied on December 9 with thier settlement offer of $215. I paid that by check. I have the letter they wrote and a copy of the canceled check.

Today I received a bill showing I had paid $215 AND claiming I still owe $241.11!!!

I have reported this to the FTC. Monday I will contact each credit bureau about this.

Please, anyone reading this, double check any time you think of getting a credit card. If the backing company is G E Money Bank, save yourself heartache and bad credit. Do the research. I am not the only victim.
