Lack of professionalism and sympathy

Business & Finance

On or about November 17, I deposited a check which was issued to me in the amount of $3950.00 for what I believed was a monetary advance to secure my services as a bodyguard for a woman visiting the Chattanooga from out of town to do some Christmas shopping. I deposited the check into my checking account and the bank issued the funds... And sent what I believed to be an overpayment back to the issuer of the check. I then proceeded to pay some bills and and purchase groceries with what I believed were good funds in my account until I received a call from TVFCU stating to me that the check was fradulent and that all the monies I had just spent put my account into the negative. The check was written from a healthcare company for which the sender of the check claimed to be the owner. I initiated contact with the issuer and was told that the check was not fradulent and was sent another check via UPS the next day or so. I did not deposit that check and as a few days passed, the work I was supposedly paid for never came. I realize I am ultimately responsible for this embarrassing Craigslist scam for which I was caught up in. I have a chronic illness and had not worked for a so this was a big chance for me to pay past due bills and grceries for my family. I have attempted to obtain loans to cover the amount but have not been successful in securing the funds needed to cover the debt. My credit rating/score is not high enough to receive any loan amount and I own no property to secure such a loan. I have initiated more than six attempts to contact management at the bank, including the Bank President, and have been shunned by all of them. They have been unwilling to work with me to repay monies they paid me on that fradgulent check. The ONE time they did return my call, all they did was question what I spent the money on and "why" I wanted to pay them if I had a limited income and owed credit card bills. The truth is I got duped by a craigslist scam and I am embarrassed. I just started working and am attempting to work on my credit rating. Would they rather I just declare bankruptsy and they get nothing??
