Northfield, illinois deceptive account practices with a side-order of nasty, northshore snobbery

More than anxious to take our money, less than kosher about doling it out. After opening checking and savings, they refused to give us the debit cards that go with the account [? ] They said, "we ran your credit and decided that, maybe in a few months... We'll see how it goes..." [! ]

How can you exist in a big city without a debit card? Get a hotel room, rent a car? Identification? Their response was, "use a check... Take out cash... Things are different now." They won't even let us sign-in to the online banking without a hold-over, approval period.

This bank, which purports itself as a friendly neighboorhood bank was anything but, as soon as our cash was in their hands. Not to mention the bizarre StarSF ATM system, with worse-than-remote locations. So how would I even get the cash I need without a debit card to get cash back and an ATM on the southwest side when I work downtown.

I mean, credit's not perfect but, who's is? Someone's gonna get our direct-deposit and savings—but they'll have to give us ACCESS to it! Skip this antiquated, discriminating, suburban money-pit if you want service for your dollar.
