Overdraft Charges With An Insurance Check On Hold For 5 Business Days

I am temporarily disabled from a work related accident. I received a check from my insurance company that the bank has placed on hold for 5 business days. When my wife deposited the check, she was told at that time that the check would be held. Sure, deposits are not available sometimes for immediate withdrawal, but it depends on the time of the day they are deposited. We contacted the bank on more than one occasion asking them to waive the hold, to call the insurance company and verify that the check was good, that our account was going to go into the red because of prepaid payments and sure enough, the overdrafts the bank has took from us are currently right at $500.00.
This is their money. Overdraft Charges. They will do nothing as it is their "policy".
Just a phone call to the insurance company is all that it would have took to resolve this issue, but they refused to do this. Go to www.bbt.com and read the "About BB&T" column, are they true to their statements? Read the other usacomplaints.com regarding BB&T, they are reaping in the profits and we are suffering for it.
