Bank Of America
Charges consumer to pay electronically — even though bank saves money!

Business & Finance

This is in regard to a BoA VISA account.

I called the number given in order to make an electronic payment by phone (this seems to be one of the few remaining banks where it cannot be done online). ONLY after I spent a great deal of time entering account numbers and routing numbers and amounts, etc., was I informed that the fee to pay electronically is $15.

By receiving payments electronically, the bank saves the administrative fees of opening mail and posting checks. Yet they want the consumer to pay extra — and not an insignificant amount extra.

No wonder the financial industry had to be bailed out. And they shouldn't have been.
