Lawsuit Letter on Old Credit Card With No Prior Contact

I just received a letter from Pressler and Pressler representing Midland Management re: an old credit card that went into collections about 3 yrs ago. I have never received any phone calls or letters from midland to try to settle this debt, the only communication i have ever received from them was this lawsuit letter yesterday. I have already written the validation letter requesting the info to prove i am obligated to pay them, the questions have are am i to also send this letter w / the answer letter from the courts? Doiwait for a response from pressler before sending the answer letter and what if they don't respond to the validation letter?

I am not trying to get out of paying the debt if i am obligated to i just know the amount they are asking for is more than what is owed. Please help
