Said I took out a payday loan and wanted personal information, Said I would go to jail if I didn't pay

7/10 - I received a call from a man who said he was Officer Shawn Matthews aith the Legal Affidavit Office representing US National Bank. He asked if I had an attorney and of course I said no. He said I had taken out a pay day loan in Jun 06 and I never repaid it. He said they tried to debit my account but it was returned. I remember a company trying to take money out of my account once before and I beleive this is the same company. He said if I didn't pay $5485 today or I would go to jail. When I started questioning him he said he wanted to read me the affidavit and then I could ask questions. I pressured him to give me a case number, reference number, the name of the company or amount of the loan. He then got his supervisor. His name was Tom. He said I would have to pay $1186.37 by 5:30 today or they would start legal procedigs and pres charges for check fraud, theft, and something else. I was scared and gave them my information even though I was skeptical because I didn't want to go to jail. He said to fax him a letter stating that I was sorry for not paying and what happened. He said I would pay $130 today and pay the remainder over the next couple weeks. I hanged up the phone and immediately called the attorney generals office. They assured me hat I was not going to jail and that everything had to come through them. I called the Federal trade Commission, Florida Office of Financial Regulations, and the people who regulates national banks. I called my bank and had my card cancelled. They had already debited my account for $130. Which my bank stopped payment on. I amstill a little shaken and scared. I am afraid they will come pick me up.
