Cornerstone America
Misleading phone calls

Business & Finance

Yesterday I received a call on my cell phone from a person by the name of Jay Johnson, saying he was from Cornerstone and he found my resume on careerbuilder.com a few weeks ago. He went on to say that he wanted to set up an interview with me ASAP.

Today I called back and spoke directly with Jay Johnson. He told me had a couple interviews set up today, I told him I was available tomorrow at any time, and I presumed that he was calling for one of the many positions I've applieed for since I was laid off—something that was in my scope of past positions and skillset.

When he told me the office was located in Scottsdale, at the Fashion Square Mall, I told him that I would have to decline as that was too far a commute for me as I live on the southwest side of the Valley and with gas prices the way they are, I just didn't feel it was doable.

He then said he actually had an appointment out on this side of town tomorrow, and he could meet with me out here, then asked for my last name so he could find my resume again.

Next I told him that I had attempted to look the company up on the internet and find their website but I was getting too many hits so could I have the correct address. He hesitated a moment, then gave me Cornerstone America and said a name of the parent company and that they're publically held and experiencing explosive growth.

He said he would call me tonight to make a set time for an interview tomorrow and I told him great and thanks.

After hanging up, I immediately went to the internet and ended up here and various other sites.

I am angry and displeased that this man & company had entirely mislead me. I have been looking for a job for a few months which hasn't gone well due to the economy, and this man presented this position as if it was something my experience was a perfect fit for.

I am NOT in the least a salesperson nor am I remotely interested in sales. It's not what I do and it's not something I have done or will ever choose to do.

So not only are these people spamming people with e-mail, they are now actually taking phone numbers of legitimate job seekers and disturbing us at home and omitting facts about what they're actually after and what the position is.

They should truly be ashamed of themselves and cease trolling people in order to get them to "invest" in some crap to boost their own revenues for the month, and it's incredibly disturbing that they are preying on borderline desperate and unemployed people who have a very thin budget for existing. Might as well hit up senior citizens for the social security check!

If Jay Johnson actually calls back tonight I will give him a piece of my mind, but I'm betting that he won't bother since he'll know I've looked them on the internet and found the truth.

BEWARE! These are some sleazy folks!!
