Falsely represented their abilities to help with a foreclosure

We called National Homeowners Financial Inc on the advice of an attorney when we were going to be foreclosed on. This was in early January. I asked how the program worked and was told that they had lenders who would pick up our mortgage and get us back on track. The initial fee was $500.00 to get an aprraisal. We paid this and then they contacted Countrywide to work out a plan. This went on for 6 weeks and they did get the foreclosure date postponed. Never in this 7 week period did anyone at National Homeowners Financial relay the information that they no longer had lenders to buy our mortgage. Countrywide notified us that we would need 5800.00 to do a loan modification. They gave us 6 days to come up with that amount of money. I asked Linda Smith at NHF what was Plan B meaning did they have a lender. At that point in time after we had paid a total of $1000.00 to NHF I was told that the lenders were no longer available to NHF due to subprime mortgages and foreclosures. The first we heard about this was after 6 weeks of talking and dealing with them. When I asked linda what Plan B was she smartly said sell your house. NHF did nothing that I couldnt have done myself. I paid them a thousand dollars to only talk to my mortgage compnay. I feel totally ripped off by NHF and once they said they didnt have lenders that was the last I heard from them. They would not return phone calls and one guy I spoke to there said that they knew about January 15th that they would no longer have lenders to help people out. I feel that this "reputable" compan should be investigated for how they deal with people. I also feel that part or all of our money should be returned to us
