Bounced a check and paid over 10 times the original amount of checks

In feburary of 2008 I bounced 12 checks. I bounced them due to a basic accounting error on my part. I don't dispute the fact that I messed up in that I did bounce the checks. However, the total of all the checks I bounced was under 100 dollars.

First National had my email address and my phone number in addition to my physical address. They made no effort to contact me other than through the mail. I didn't recieve any notices until the middle of feburary at which point I recieved 6 notifications that my account was overdrawn. At that point my account already was over 500 dollars overdrawn due to their 30 dollar NSF fee. Every time that an agency attempted to clear a check through my checking account First National would charge me 30 dollars, and occasionally would add an extra overdraft fee. I ended up paying 997 dollars in NSF fees only. On top of that First National failed to let me know that they had not paid any of the checks off. I have since paid over 500 dollars to collections agencies and continue to recieve calls. I'm a part time worker and a student. I have had to sell nearly everything I own to pay off my fees only. I am aware of the NSF fees for most of the other banks in town and none of them have a fee larger than 25 dollars. Since I closed my account First National has raised their NSF fees to 34 dollars.

This experience has ruined my life. I am struggling to buy food every month and I'm now late on several other bills that I have. If you value your money, do not ever use First National. They try their best to take your money and charge you for it.
