Refused to notify courts that account was at a zero balance

First off - I know I screwed up & bounced a check. I was planning on taking care of it as soon as possible. I was just never notified of where I was to send the money, anyway. I was notified that a court Summons was about to be sent out on me if I didn't pay $172.00. If the Summons was sent out it would be $7.00. Needless to say I panicked and got the money together and overnighted it. I was told that as soon as they got the money the account would be cleared up at the $172., but if I received the summons before they received the money then I would have to pay the larger amount. I called the day after I overnighted it, and after talking to four people I was finally told that the account was at a zero balance. Two weeks later in the middle of writing a term paper I was served a Summons for this account that was supposed to be at a zero balance. When I called Mr. Richard's' office I was told it was an accident the Summons was supposed to have been recalled. I told them I understand an accident, but will they call the court & let them know it was taken care off. They told me it hadn't been filled with the court. If that's true why is the courts info on it and telling me how to take care of the problem so I won't be in-contempt of court. Not trusting Mr. Richard's office I called the court & gave them the file # on the papers. They pulled up the account & lo & behold the case hadn't been taken care of. When I called Mr. Richard's office I was once again told that nothing had been filed with the court. I explained to them that the court has a file for this incident, and asked them to make a quick phone call to clear this up. Once again I was told that the courts hadn't been notified & weren't involved. If I wanted I could drive the 1/2 hour to get the a paper saying that the account has a zero balance. I'm in a wheelchair & unable to drive. So they suggested sending a pre-addressed & pre-stamped envelope to them. So that is what I'm going to do. The frustrating thing is it could have saved us all some time, if they would've made a quick 5 min. Phone call. When I called to discuss the situation with them. The employees were very rude and condesending.
