Debt Recovery Solutions tries to collect fake debt

Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC claims to be a collection agency for Verizon. I got a letter (in Jan) from them stating I owed $207.27 on a phone number I never owned.

SO... I called them to tell them of their error. I have never dealt with such rude and foul people in my whole life. Eventually they said they would send me supporting information.

Several weeks later I got what "looks like" a bill from Verizon for an address I used for business with my name on it. I never opened a business account in my personal name. That was phishy. It shows a number I never owned. That was phishy.

I called Verizon. They were GREAT. They told me while they couldn't access all the information it was for an account opened on Dec 2 and closed January 19 (about ninety days after it was opened). That was phishy... Verizon also told me what information Debt Recovery Solutions gets when they buy bad Verizon accounts.

I called Debt Recovery Solutions back. They were even worse than they were before. They said my only option was to file a police report, send them W-2's (yeh... Right...) and a notarized letter stating this was fraudulent activity.

I am going to do these things tomorrow.

As I was working through the steps trying to unravel this mystery it occus to me that Debt Recovery Solutions may be a scam in itself. They are so rude and so unhelpful that got me suspicious.

Why would they be so rude? Why would they be so unhelpful. Why would they not provide me information Verizon claims it sold them (like any call detail for the short time the account was open...)

I think that Debt Recovery Solutions is a scam business. They may buy some old debt, discharged debt and try to force collections. That is bad enough.

But Debt Recovery Solutions had personal info on me (like my Social Security Number) that Verizon didn't have. I think they open fraudulent accounts with stolen ids, sell fraudulent numbers for a short time, close the accounts so they don't get caught (this keeps them looking legit) - Then they buy the closed/write-ff accounts for pennies on the dollar and make IN ADDITION by forcing people into paying them.

They steal your info and sell it for fraud they they double their rip-off by collecting on the fradulent debt.

I am on to their scam and I want to help you protect yourself from these EVIL people. I hope you never have to deal with them, but remember, if you do... You are getting ripped-off on BOTH sides of their scam.
