If you are financially desperate - BEWARE

I am desperately in need of a personal loan. I came across an ad in our local newspaper and it seemed like the answers to my prayers. The ad said:
Mortgage/Loans Tax Return Not Enough?
We have quick/easy loans up to $35,000 regardless of credit! Immediate Processing. Call now 1-800-440-2137.

I called and there was an auto response to leave your name and number. I left my name and home number. I didn't hear back so the next day I called from my cell phone and once again, I left my name and number. This time I got an immediate call back from a woman named Lisa. She told me she could take an application over the phone and would have an answer for me in a few hours. An hour or so later she called my cell phone again and told me I was approved for $15,000 and there would be a 5% interest rate with a payment of $395.00 a month. She told me I could have the money direct deposited into my account today. Well this just sounded to good to be true and too easy so I started asking questions. I specifically asked what I needed to do and she told me I would have to sign a promissary note and send in a payment of $1,200 to secure the loan. I knew right then it was a scam but I continued to play along. I asked her if they were members of the Better Business Bureau? She said yes absolutely. I asked where they were located and she told me Houston, TX. I asked her if she could send me information about their company and what kind of documentations she could provide as to the legitimacy of who she said they were. She said well yes, I will have to fax you over the promissary note but we also have a wonderful web-site and we are affiliated with Lending Tree and Capital One and Wells Fargo. She was very anxious for me to comit to the loan. I told her that I would need to verify some information and if everything checked out, I would do it. I quickly check with the BBB and called Lending Tree and Capital One and there is no such company. I read an alert on the BBB web-site about these kinds of companies. When she faxed me the prom. She quickly called back and I told her that I already checked and she was not a legitimate business and not registered with the BBB and Lending Tree and Capital One did not know who she was. She said well I don't know why? We are a very reputable business and I am a good Christian woman and I would never do this to rip people off. I told her she was nothing but a scam and I could not believe she called herself a good christian, I said God help you. I told her I was filing a report and good luck with the next sucker she reels in. I cannot believe I almost believed her and used my mortgage money to get this loan. Why don't these businesses get shut down and stopped in their tracks. I thought since this ad appeared in our local town paper it had to be real. I almost was their next victim. I don't care how desperate you are Listen and BEWARE! Do not believe them when they tell you that you need to send money to secure a loan. That should put up the red flags for you.
