Harleysville National Bank
Takes money out of my account every month illegally

I was an employee of this bank for over two years. When I first started working there, I was forced to open a Harleysville checking account and was told I would not be paid any other way but direct deposit into said account. I opened a free checking account, making absolutely certain there were no fees or minimum balance requirements as I was in college at the time and couldn't keep my balance over x amount of dollars each month.

Well, I made the mistake in the past several months of not going over my statement with a fine-toothed comb as I do most banking electronically. I found a $4 "service charge" being applied to my account almost every month. I later find out the bank is taking this money every time my account balance falls below $300. Well, immediately I demanded a refund for these service charges, over 20 in all. I was told that I got them because I was not an employee anymore, which is a joke because they occurred both during and after I was employed there. They told me they were not "required" to help me, and them looking into this at all was "more than fair."

I am going to pursue legal action against them, because I have my original contract from the FREE checking account, and they could be making thousands of dollars right now in phony "service" charges every month from unsuspecting victims like myself.

DON'T BANK HERE.in the past, HNB was known as a friendly neighborhood bank. Now that the Commerces and Citizens of the world are moving closer to home, I can tell you firsthand that the bank is becoming cut throat and desperate before they are taken out of business. They do not care anymore about Joe Customer; they care about the sinking ship that is their deposit net and will stop at nothing to make up for that loss in fees.
