Credit Card Fraud

Besides duping consumers into paying for the free annual credit report to which they are entitled by Federal Law, this company is engaged in credit card fraud.

Https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index. Jsp is the site sanctioned by the Federal Government where consumers can receive a free annual report.

Earlier this month I noticed a suspicious charge from Mighty Net on my Amex bill. I called the telephone number associated with the charge and was transfered to their "fraud" department. I explained that I had not ordered any products or services from them and asked them to reverse the charges. I provided them with my credit card number, name, address, date and amount of the charge. They asked for more personal information that seemed to be designed to commit fraud rather than unwind one that had just taken place.

MightyNet confirmed that they did not verify the name or address that American Express had provided them associated with the charge. MightyNet also confirmed that the name and the address they received associated with the charge were substantially different (different address, different first name).

Yet, MightyNet refused to to refund the charges.
