Threats yelling calling neighbors What can I do

I am being harassed by UCB. Beginning almost atwo months ago UCB began calling me at least five times a day. After initially speaking with some kid in a cubicle regarding the past due account I informed him I was aware of the situation but due to financial situations was not able to pay at that time. They continued to call I I continued to give the same response. A young lady by the name of Dawn left several messages indicating she was from the state of Ohio cleasrly trying to indicate she worked for the state and it involved a legal issue.

UCB then began to contact my family and neighbors. They have the information to contact as referenced from previous conversations but instead they are using the tactic to embarras me by calling others. On the 6 i spoke with a man who would only call himself Justin and he bagan to verbally berate me about being a deadbeat and how I had committed a felony et al.

I calmly responded to him that the account in question is over 10 years old and had never had a late paymnet until this fall. I explained to hm that I was not trying to skirt my responsibility but due to financial distress it would be at least 2-4 weeks befor I could fully resolve the bill. He went totally insane, told me that I should refi my ome or it would be confiscated and informed me that I was a poor excuse for a father and a husband. I sent a cease and desist letter today.
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how these people can be held responsible for their egregious behavior? As a business owner for many years I have had to deal with collecting past due bills on many occasions and I am an no way trying to avoid paying the bill I owe when I can. But the tactics used by this company are ridiculous.
