Is using excessive fees to make money off of there customers. Ft. Lauderdal

I recently made purchases for the holidays and decided to check the balance on my account online. I did this on 12/26/07. At that time I had a negative balance of -$199.73. The following day I checked my balance online again spoke with a young lady who basically and it had increased to -$339.73. I called and spoke with Antwan who basically gave me the run around and stated that he was my responsibility to monitor my checking account. When asked why the online banking and ATM services did not provide accurate information, I was told that Wachovia cannot give a minute by minute update. I then also asked that if x amount of funds are on hold for a merchant than why are they showing available and why is the transaction approved. If these funds have been promised to another merchant why did Wachovia approve the transaction. I now understand that this is just another way for them to access all of these horrendous fees to loyal clients. For every question that I had Antwan's rebuttal was simple that this is Wachovia's policy and it is my responsibility to balance my check book, even though I don't write checks; furthermore, I stated that I will be closing my account and Wachovia will yet again lose a client. Antwan ever so nonchalantly stated that he's "sorry that I feel this way". Yea right this is not the first bad experience with these call center representatives who are basically spoon fed responses for upset customers like me.

I am now out of pocket $140. I expressed to Antwan that I could not afford to pay this. Antwan was not affected, nor empathetic by my current financial situation. There were no attempts made to keep me as a customer and in my opinion, I would prefer to do business with a company who appreciates my patronage.
