Bank Telephone Scam! Rip-off! Manahatten

On 9/28/04 I received a phone call from Community Savings saying I was approved for a mastercard credit card. After listening to the gentleman tell me I applied about 6 months ago for the credit card and I was declined. Now he was telling me I have been approved. Knowing that I didn't apply for a credit card I caught on to the scam. He asked for a one time fee of $299.00 and they will send me the credit card.

After asking him for a phone number where he can be reached at he told me he couldn't receive incoming phone calls but to call the activation number he gave me. I then called the number and she stated a packet will be sent out with flyers and in it an application for me to sign for the bank to have on file on the fee was paid. I still didn't trust them so I came to rip off report and there it was. Thank you rip off report for helping me from being scammed.
