I found my self in a bad situation and payday loans seemed to be a means to an end.
I kept several going for a very long time and the company mad lots ok money off of me.
I seemd to be their best customer.
At some point i lost my job and went to this particular store to notify them because i was going in every to weeks paying them money to renew the loan and this was not making the loan go down it only renewed the loan.
When i explained to them that i could not longer affored to renew the loan and asked them to please consider how much they had made off of me and give me a chance to pay off the check in payments.
No renew but to let my money go toward paying the loan out.
I was told that they had to process the check anyway but that they would put me on a payment plan.
I paid on the loan and thought i had paid it out.
This was in 1998. On september 18 i was stopped for a traffic violaton and the police officer notifid me that i had a arrest warrent for issuing worthless checks. Needless to say i was arrested.
This was a first time for me so i was hysterical!
I was detained in a jail until the chalmette sherrif office pick me up from the first jail 12 hours later.
I had to call my job from the jail, my children, parent and husband from jail.
I was trasported to chalmette and went before the judge. The judge saw that i had no prior arrest and i told him that i had proof that this particular loan was paid.
He really did not want to hear what i had to say at that time becuase this was only a hearing.
So he released me on my own r/r and gave me a court date.
I immediatly went home and found my receipts.
I called them and they said that i did pay toward the loan but did not totally pay it off.
I asked them to send this to me in writing and i will foward to them what they say i owe them.
I fully intend to sue these people.
I have been humiliated and emarrased to no end.
I feel that they knew that this was a worthless check before they processed it because i went to them and told them that i lost my job. I
I also feel that if i do owe them any more than i paid them then because i did attempt to resolve and pay this off it may have been a collection ageny issue or even bring me to court to collect their money but i did not deserve to be arrested.
I can not wait to go to court i am praying that justice is done on that day so that i can go on with my next action.
Please advise.
