Infuriatingly aggressive sales pitch

I did not get ripped off because I said no to everything, but I agree with Bear's assessment.
This guy called himself Chris, and played the recording, supposedly to melt my defenses. Then he got back on hte phone, and asked what I thought. I told him I was not in the habit of buying anything until I knew what it was about. He continued his vague descriptions that left me underwhelmed.
He then tried the gold / silver / platinum pitch, using the classical insurance sales "yes routine", I guess to hypnotise me into saying "yes" to the sale.
I told him that I had just returned after 1 1/2 years overseas and that I had maxed-out my credit card to the limit just getting myself and my 76 kilos of excess baggage home, so I would think about it and get back to him. This guy did not understand that no meant no. After I had repeated the refusal several times, he said "Now I'm happy to hold on... You just go get that card"
At that point — exasperated and flabbergasted — I told him that I was really not going to do anything, but would think about it and get back to him. He then gave me his full name and telephone number. I googled him and, predictably, came up with nothing.
