Ripoff Trying to collect on debt that I am not aware of

I got a credit report from all 3 credit companies and NCO shows up for something it does not describe and I don't remember not paying for. This goes back to Feb. 2001. I am trying to fix my credit report and have no idea what this "charge" is for and can not get any info. On it! When I Googled NCO I found almost all entries listed as ripoffs. I am asking for help to rectify this situation and don't know where to begin. Please help!
