Collection Agency harrassment

This company not only called me, but they called my parents and three of my neighbors. When I called back to ask what gave them the right to give anyone information about me, they wanted to know what the messages said because Massachusetts Law states they could do contact anyone they want. I tried to explain my situation to two employees but one stated that since I worked for the IRS and not McDonald's, I was a smart enough person to understand they want money. They threatened me with garnishing my wages, taking my home, and would be able to obtain all my money I had in the bank. After arguing with these people, I was told they would claim that I was refusing to pay and they would take me to court. This company needs to be shut down somehow, someway.
