Fail to Accurately Report Ripoff

I contacted Equifax advising them of incorrect information contained in my credit report. They responded with "verified" and to contact the "source". I did and the "source" sent me a letter on their letterhead stating their was no such information on me in their system. I forwarded a copy of the letter to Equifax demanding they delete. Equifax responded, even after I provided proof, with "verified" and to contact the source. They also provided the sources phone number which was also incorrect. Would like to sue but don't know how much I can legally and successfully sue for.
