Reporting inaccurate info credit report will not remove ripoff

I attempted to apply for a car loan thru my financial institution and was denied. Ultimately found out due to info provided by Rickenbacker on my credit report. This is for a towing charge from Black & White Towing on 9, for a car I do not own and had donated to charity. I never received anything from Rickenbacker or Black & White towing and did not discover this 'item' until 2-6-07 when I applied for a car loan.

Upon contacting Rickenbacker initially since I did not recognize this 'item.' I was told I would have to file a fraud report with DMV. I go to DMV with license number in hand at which time I was informed since I am NOT the registered owner I cannot get this information.

Upon returning home I called Rickenbacker once again to inform them of this again they informed me to go back and file another report using the VIN number. DMV again reiterating the same info—since I am not the registered owner I will in all likelihood not received this info, however, suggested I make a copy of this item from my credit report to enclose, which I did. DMV person said that the report does not even list the vehicles license number or VIN number another reason. Further they informed me that the collection agency RICKENBACKER could obtain this info from DMV or Black & White towing. Stating again that since I am not the registered owner my chances are slim.

In the meantime I received a copy of donation letter from the charity organization stating clearly that I donated this vehicle on 5-16. The date showing on my credit report is 9-10. Rickenbacker again was called to inform them of this donation receipt, at which time they told me they do not have to accept this letter I was free to submit it to them, which I have done. Reiterating my frustration with their lack of cooperation in providing me documents and sending me to DMV for information they know consumers cannot obtain I was informed that they will continue to report this information and basically laughed it off cuz I can't get this information from DMV or anywhere else.

I repeatedly asked for all documentation in regard to this issue to be provided to me again Rickenbacker agent informed me that they are not 'required' to give me this information. Leaving me with no choice but to file with 'investigative' complaints with the FTC, Equifax, Experion, Trans Union credit reporting agencies, BBB for the county where they are located. Attorney General office, and several local representatives.

I want this item removed from my credit report since I have proof I did NOT own this vehicle on said date.
