Fraudulent, dishonest and just out to make money they did not earn

About 6 years ago now I was offered this credit card. I recieved it in the mail without applying for it. I was young it ws my first card. I called the company to verify the balance and found almost the whole card was used up in fees. I immediately called to cancel it and they refused. They said in order to cancel the card I had to pay the balance on the card because it was alredy activated. I had not activated the card. I never charged anything on it and I refused to pay it.
They put it on my credit report and it has been there ever since. It went from 150 to 525 crazy stuff even though I told them to close this account it is still collecting interest as it sits on my credit report.
I did put it in writting as well several times with the notices they sent out. I just do not see how it is fair that they can do this to people. I would never recommend this company to my worst enemy.
