Non Stop Harassment and Illegal Collection Tactics

This company, which I only learned the name of from internet searches for the # that keeps showing up on caller ID is harassing me for money I owe Ebay. I admit I owe Ebay some money (not much) and I am paying Ebay back, not a collection agency, monthly. This in no way stops them from calling me constantly.

I am called somedays every hour (from 8am to 9pm) seven days a week. The only reprieve is holidays. WHEN I answer the phone I am harassed by very rude people who do not know consumer law. I have been told that I am worthless; that I need to get a job to pay this; that they are going to have me arrested; that if I don't pay this they will start calling my neighbors and telling them I am a deadbeat; and on and on. These tactics are in violation of Federal Consumer Debt law.

I have requested that they mail me something, as they refuse to tell me who they are&they will only say that they are collecting for ebay. I have received nothing in the mail. When I repeatedly ask for their company name, I am told that I am trying to change the topic away from the fact that I owe Ebay money.

When I state that I am paying Ebay back monthly myself a small amount, I am told that I cannot do that (though Ebay credits my account) and that I am cheating them out of money (uh, yeah). When one woman was really harassing me and asked why I didn't pay it all at once, I explained I live on disability and she then launched into a tirade of how scum like me take her tax dollars and end up in debt.

Needless to say I no longer answer the phone when I see this number, I don't need to be verbally abused. Their website claims they are ETHICAL. Boy, that's a laugh! It's not ethical to verbal abuse, name call, violate the law, and harass people. They also claim on their website that they are PROFESSIONAL in their treatment of debtors. Another laugh!

I am following steps that the FTC provide for illegal collection tactics. Hopefully their daily calls will cease and desist soon.
