Ripoff, charged $1000 interest on a $3600-18mo loan

Okay, so my wife used GE Money bank in May 05 to finance her laser surgery. We understood this to be a loan, and have been making the payments for the last 18 months. Due to an error scheduling my last payment with my web-bill pay service, the LAST payment ($300) arrived two days late. They then say that we violated the agreement and had to pay the full compound interest charge. We called, but there is absolutely no help to be gotten by calling them.
