Seized Katrina victim's grant! Ripoff New Orleans Metro Area

After Hurricane Katrina, I contacted Capital One about an $87.00 balance I owed them. They assured me that I would have a 90 day grace period. I'd lost everything, including my credit cards. They kindly replaced them. I'd also lost my job of 21 years!

After 90 days, my balance suddenly jumped to almost $300.00, balance due IN FULL, but since I was a Katrina victim, who had lost everything, I was not prepared for this... Especially since my card only had a limit of $300.00. Lord only knows what they "claim" I owe them now.

I was trying to avoid opening a bank account, for fear of what would happen, but as time went on, I got a job, and started getting a rehab employment grant from the state of Louisiana. I HAD to open a bank account. I used the grant money to open the account, but only the minimum required. The rest I received as cash. I just knew.

Two days later, Capital One seized the money. I was told by the State that I COULD NOT use the money to pay off credit card debt. It doesn't matter. Capital One TOOK it.

I'm scared to death that I will be accused of fraud by the state, even though this was not my decision. I have yet to be served with papers to this day, either by the court, or the bank!

I would think that hundreds of thousands of people in the Gulf coast region are having credit problems right now. You think Capital One gives a shit about us?

They GENEROUSLY offered to credit *one* late payment!

I lost my mother because of that damn hurricane! I still (to this day) cannot find other elderly family members, or good friends! Do you really think I give a rat's ass about Capital One, and their uneducated henchmen?

I dare one of them to even attempt a lame response to THIS!? Give me MY MAMA BACK! Make my life as it was before, when I paid my balance every month!
